This week we covered a whole bunch of material. We worked with take downs, get ups, escapes, and touched on some weapon stuff.
First thing is a double leg takedown. I have posted many videos of doubles on this blog, but I wanted to post a video for our more advanced students. Here is a double fake level change take down. This is very applicable for MMA and street fighting. Now, most of you know not to drag your knee on the ground like in the video if you are on a rough surface. His head movement and technique is great though! Check it out!

Next thing is a sprawl. This is a great defense for take downs to the legs. Mainly the Double Leg. The "expert" doing all the talking misses a few really good points and his terminology is different than what we teach, but it's a very solid video nevertheless.

Here is another video that covers my favorite move... The Crossface. This guy teaches it a bit more from a wrestling point of view. He says the term "gentle" which is obviously not what we are going for when it comes to self defense.

This is a really good video on the sit out. We work this one a lot because we hate to be on the bottom. Some martial arts don't mind it so much.... but then again some martial arts don't fight on asphalt. Watch the head positioning of the guy doing the sit out. Really well done.

The next thing I wanted to touch on is the Stand Up. This is a move we haven't covered very much but I find it very very important. This is one very good way of doing it, but there are other ways too. Watch the video, try it, see what you like!

We also covered the Whizzer and an Elevator. Now, both were hard to find decent videos of, but I managed to find a good video of both at the same time!

Hope to see you all in class again soon!
